There are three types of Hard Drive failure.  Some recovery companies do not tell you this.  The cost of data recovery is based on the failure type.  And most of the drive failures fall under Level 1 and 2 which cost a lot less than Level 3.

The following represents common symptoms and statistics.  However a diagnostic is required by an experienced technician to determine the actual level of recovery required.  Be careful in selecting a data recovery company, improper diagnostic tests can turn a Level 2 to a Level 3. Logical hard drive failures are the cause of more than 60% of the data recovery.

Step By Step Process

Pack your hard drive like it’s made of glass. To protect your drive, use packaging popcorn or bubble wrap. Please make sure you include your contact information (name, address, phone and email address). Send you hard drive to SNC at 9488 Hollow Springs Way, Elk Grove, CA 95624. Drop off is available by appointment.
You will be contacted to discuss the result of the diagnostic.  Some diagnostic tests can take hours while some can take days. The diagnostic will not void your warranty unless your drive is inside an external enclosure. We will need to remove the enclosure in order to gain access to the bare drive. The enclosure may be damagex during this removal process and your warranty may be voided. We do not install the hard drive back into the enclosure. Note: Some companies like Western Digital will still RMA the bare drive without the enclosure.
We will inform you of what type of recovery is needed and you can pay online. We will also inform you how much disk space is required for the transfer drive.  It’s possible that the size of the transfer drive is two or three times larger than your hard drive.
Once we have received the payment; we will start the data recovery process. 40% of the time, the data recovery will void the warranty on your hard drive.
Once the recovery is done, we will send you the transfer drive and securely dispose of the bad drive.
